FS Daily bug?
For the last 18 hours, I've been unable to post articles, when logged into FS Daily. Each time I attempt to use the Submit button I get a message, "Permission Denied".
Is anyone else having this problem? The complete lack of "Upcoming" articles tends to suggest that they are.
I don't even know if I can successfully "post" this comment, but I'll try.
Free history
I am a historian.
I've long studied ancient history. And modern history. Particularly since I've had access to the Free Internet.
The Free Internet opened my eyes to many aspects of history, like nothing before it.

If they're going to do it anyway...
We free software advocates surely know that, no matter what we say or how we say it, some people have to or (if you prefer) simply want to use proprietary software for one reason or another - and that's even when they've heard and understood everything we have to say on the matter.

Free on free > proprietary on free > free on proprietary > proprietary on proprietary
Okay so I think we can all agree that proprietary software shouldn't be promoted by the FOSS community. It also seems to be acceptable to promote the use of free software applications on proprietary OSes. So why is there a problem with promoting the use of proprietary applications on free OSes?
Let's break it down. There are four combinations of apps and OSes:

Comments, comments, comments!
Just thought we'd take an opportunity to ask you all to help improve your community and ours by posting comments as much as you can on as many stories and as often as you can.
Far too often stories come and go without anyone providing their opinions of them apart from giving them votes. It would of great benefit to the community if we all participate more often in this way.

Problems installing Eeebuntu on an Eee PC 700 via bootable USB device - Solved!
I recently had some trouble installing Eeebuntu on a Eee PC 700 via a bootbale USB drive. So, I thought I'd share the experience so that anyone else with the problem can find the solution.
I was in visiting my mother-in-law last week and she asked me to take a look at her Eee PC 700 which recently stopped loading the Xandros-based OS desktop properly.
