Linux Mint 8 KDE Edition

http://thelinuxblog.net

Linux Mint is one of the most popular Ubuntu based distro’s, possibly for the fact it brings something new to the table rather than just a different set of wallpapers. Its always been one of my favorite distros.

Sync your iPhone Music Libary With Rhythmbox in Ubuntu Karmic (No Jailbreaking Required)

http://maketecheasier.com

Even if you are willing to jailbreak your phone, there are still plenty of complicated steps that you need to do to get the syncing to work. With the release of iFuse (and a bunch of other library), things have changed.

CrossOver Windows apps without Windows

http://www.wine-reviews.net

VirtualBox may be free, but you still have to own a copy of Windows. Warmth: New Proposed Lucid Theme

http://www.webupd8.org

Warmth uses a blend of light and dark colors to draw the eye to the content of applications. The toolbars and menubars are dark, while the body of the application is light. It feels like a combination of the New Wave and Dust Sand themes and the Metacity reminds me of Homosapien.

Spill the Wine, install IrfanView in Debian

http://www.insidesocal.com

Sure I've tried Wine before. But never successfully. I took the plunge recently, forking over $20 for the Bordeaux GUI front-end for Wine, the non-emulator that allows users of Linux (and Solaris and FreeBSD) to run Windows applications on their Unix-like computers. I decided to use Bordeaux because its developers (or developer singular ...

GNOME screen lock ineffective in openSUSE Linux

http://www.h-online.com

The screen lock of openSUSE 11.2 can be bypassed by the simplest of means. A reader's report prompted The H's associates at heise Security to investigate. X-IVi … Human Deluxe (Lucid proposed theme)

http://www.ubuntugeek.com

X-IVi is a obvious name for two reasons: 1. The base-theme was “Ivi” (Thank to “nale12″). 2. X-IV means 10.4 (Lucid) and the simple “i” means Design (iPod, iMac, …), but don’t care really about the “i”.

Intel 82830 CGC (830m) graphics fix for Ubuntu 10.04 just might work for your Intel gpu too

http://www.insidesocal.com

Me and Xorg. It's a long, dramatic tale. OK, it's not so much me and Xorg as it is my Intel 830m graphics chip and Xorg, or more specifically my Intel 82830 CGC and Xorg. In Ubuntu 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) Alpha 2, which I've been testing with a live DVD, there are two ways to boot the disc and get actual video on systems with this graphics chip.
