Building on the last post, I welcome the opportunity to share some of my experiences with deploying Linux in schools. It is a very broad topic however I will stay with the previous outline. First of all, it is a matter of migrating schools to Linux, not selling them. Second, the approach is different based on whether the school in located in a developing country, the EU or North America.

Sure, you will find mixed environments, with Macs predominantly in the creative departments. But, you dont typically see a complete departure from Windows. Exaile 0.3.1.2 Has Been Released
Exaile 0.3.1.2 has just been release, this being a bug-fix only release.
Among the changes in this version are:
* Full python2.5 compatibility was restored
* A bug resulting in unexpected duplicate playlist entries was fixed
* Several stability and interface issues were resolved

Manual LVM configuration on Fedora 13
Fedora 13 is one of the Linux distributions that supports and uses Linux Logical Volume Manager (LVM) as the default disk partitioning scheme. While this is a good thing (it has its benefits), the space allocation to the partitions and logical volumes is not optimal.

There's Something About Ubuntu
Lucid Lynx is enjoying glowing reviews, and Ubuntu in general is immensely popular, as Linux distros go. What is it about Ubuntu that gives it such a large, loyal following? Granted, not everyone is Ubuntu's friend -- "irritating" and "fatally flawed" were a few choice adjectives that pop up. But others figure that if Linux is going to have a flagship distro, Ubuntu might as well be it.
