The problem in naming your operating system after an abstract concept is the diversity of interpretation that the word represents. This problem is essentially highlighted in online search. Doing a search for "the meaning of Ubuntu" leads you to numerous varying results, sometimes inclined to politics and sometimes inclined to racial concepts.

Is open source losing its soul?
Has open source come to include so much that it's somewhat meaningless? If so, should we return to the free-software roots that defined its infancy?

Install it forward
I am reminded by the movie "Pay it forward" where a person started doing good to three other persons and the way of gratitude is to pay it forward, doing good to three other persons thus multiplying the goodness around.

Why Choose "Open Source" for Free Software
At this point, the only reason i still use the term "Free Software" is to align myself with the Free Software movement as opposed to the Open Source movement, but to end this stupid naming controversy and make both movements stronger, not only do we have to, but we should for our own benefit use the term "open source" instead. Are we mis-selling 'open source'?
I am currently re-reading an oldish book on post-Piagetian child brain development. It has proved to be a real thought provoker, ironically for me not so much about young children but about the way adults think when you get the communication wrong. Hence the title of the article.
