The new style of Ubuntu is driven by the theme "Light". We've developed a comprehensive set of visual guidelines and treatments that reflect that style, and are updating key assets like the logo accordingly. The new theme takes effect in 10.04 LTS and will define our look and feel for several years.

Ubuntuzilla is an APT repository hosting the Mozilla builds of the latest official releases of Firefox, Thunderbird, and Seamonkey. This repository should also work on Linux distributions that are derivatives of Ubuntu, and probably also on any Debian derivative.

One of my professors mailed us a PDF of a scanned document to read (and print out) for the next class. Being that is was scanned in there was a lot of excess black in the picture. I don’t know about you, but printing 2 large blocks of solid black, for 22 pages, doesn’t sound like a wise investment of toner. But ah! Why don’t I just crop off the excess part? This has to be easy, right?

The consensus among new Unix and Linux users seems to be that sudo is more secure than using the root account, because it requires you type your password to perform potentially harmful actions. In reality, a compromised user account, which is no big deal normally, is instantly root in most setups.
