This document describes how to set up the light-weight Conky system monitor on Ubuntu 7.04. Conky is a desktop widget that is able to display most diverse information like CPU temperature, current used network-bandwith or anything you want. You can customize the whole layout including colors and fonts.

Assault Cube is an open source 3d shooter done in the old school deathmatch style of gameplay, but with much newer graphics. Gameplay is especially good in this game due to the way it's implemented.

Not long ago I blogged about fitting Linux onto an older system and giving it to someone who doesn’t need the latest model of PC. This week, I tried it with a notebook that’s about seven or eight years old. Windows XP barely ran. Linux gave it a new lease on life.

I like to back up the data on my laptop computer as often as possible, just in case I have trouble with it. I have some large files on the laptop that prevent me from scheduling an Internet backup to my home machine, so I have written a script that reminds me to periodically plug in an external USB drive; then upon clicking continue, the reminder script runs my custom backup script.
