Stallman was the first software developer to publicly espouse the "free love" approach to software copyrights that lead to such modern marvels as Linux.

http://opseast.wordpress.com

I have a bunch of single-use Gmail accounts for the usual things, like account registrations, site administration, newsletter subscriptions and the like. If you have this same situation, you know that (unless you possess unusual patience) it’s not easy to serially open up multiple Gmail accounts if you have saved the login information for an auto-login.

Linspire developers create new distro based on Kubuntu

http://www.marcelgagne.com

Kevin Carmony told some upset members that if they did not like the way things were, they can start their own distro and see how it goes. So, former Freespire Leadership Board member Chris Medico assembled a team, of which I was honored to be asked to be a part of, which he lovingly calls Freedom Force. Within weeks, this new project, based on Kubuntu, had an Alpha.

Ubuntu, security & freedom. Can they still live together?

http://www.aspir8or.com

There is a long and somewhat heated argument taking place in the Ubuntu forums over a post by Ian Jackson in the Ubuntu Developers mail list, which is a wrapup of a discussion held on the irc #ubuntu-devel channel. The post advocates a change in the Ubuntu security policy by making it more difficult for new users to install untrusted 3rd party software.

Linux Media Center PCs Review Roundup

http://www.osweekly.com

It seems like only a short time ago when the idea of running Microsoft's Media Center Edition of Windows (MCE) struck me as the best idea in the world. It gave the appearance like it did it all, but that changed as MythTV developers honed their own skills and really took the MCE platform to task.

TDT 3D has put together a comparison of six 3D modeling tools. I am not going to get too deeply into the finer points of the products and what the TDT 3D reviewer thought of them, but many readers got quite worked up about one of the tools, Blender 3D 2.45.
