On Ron Hovsepian’s Latest GNU/Linux FUD

http://boycottnovell.com

A day ago we mentioned the tactless remarks from Ron Hovsepian, whose damage can affect not only Novell, but Novell’s (and Microsoft’s) rivals as well. What on earth was he thinking? Others ask themselves the same question.

http://boycottnovell.com

The SFLC has already informed us all that OOXML is clearly incompatible with the GNU GPL. But Microsoft seems to have just picked itself another smaller target (it’s a pattern that we last mentioned days ago). It insulted the intelligence of the Groklaw crowd with some rude remarks on this issue.

OpenOffice.org Storms Away – on the Continent

http://www.computerworlduk.com

Some people get sniffy about OpenOffice.org, calling it mickey mouse in comparison to the “serious” and “grown-up” Microsoft Office. That may have been a vaguely plausible jibe for version 1, but I've found version 2 to be incredibly fast and powerful – it really does everything I need in an office suite, and it does it well. And yet OpenOffice.org rarely gets the respect it deserves.

Linux is at the heart of today's innovation.

http://lexlocilinux.blogspot.com

I recently consulted with a company regarding various matters, one of which was IT. I advised them that they could substantially cut their IT costs by using Linux. I expected the usual resistance, but instead was greeted with a smile and an emphatic "Absolutely!". Wow! I was stunned and so pleased to realize that I was not the only one that "got it".

Jealousy? Novell, Red Hat, and the Linux Desktop

http://practical-tech.com

Recently, both Novell and Red Hat went on record as dismissing the idea that the consumer Linux desktop is going to be taking off anytime soon. It’s not? Has anyone told Asus and Xandros? Everex and gOS? How about Dell and Ubuntu? They’re all doing great with consumer Linux desktops.

http://boycottnovell.com

The previous post ought to have shown you that Microsoft is gradually losing its grip on Europe. Microsoft does not give up without a fight though. To re-use that phrase from the previous post’s title, when Microsoft fights, it’s willing to deal punches below the belt.
