There were some ruffled feathers due to a blog post of Mark Shuttleworth regarding upcoming changes to Ubuntu's development process. Muktware approached him for clarification. A lot of development that was done internally by Canonical employees will now be opened up to selected community members for review and contribution.

FSFE interview with Hugo Roy

BackBox Linux 3 review
Because it is based on Ubuntu, its installation program is Ubiquity, Ubuntu’s graphical installer. But the version of Ubiquity in BackBox 3 is the pre-Ubuntu 12.10 version, so full disk encryption and automatic LVM configuration are not supported.
