First off, I'm by and large a full-time Ubuntu user. However, I'm also one of their most vocal critics for becoming so detached from their core market as well. In response, I have used both operating systems and it has been interesting to see how each deals with the issue of usability for the casual user.

What's Wrong with Open-Source Software?
Though the open-source movement isn't going to die anytime soon, it's looking a little ragged at the edges. And with the appearance of the onerous GPL v3 and the slow deterioration of the popular Firefox browser, I now wonder if open source may have been a fad, or perhaps just a more elaborate iteration of the shareware phenomenon in the 1980s.

Ubuntu 7.10rc1 - Fixing Compiz (Related Ati cards, but some Nv stuff)
