Since I discovered MakeHuman I've become The Blogger Who Cannot Stop Drawing. This is always a sign that I've found a valuable graphics tool, when I can't stop playing with it. Here's the latest surviving pieces, as always with MakeHuman models which are then edited in other programs:

OK, I wasn’t going to do this, you know jump in on all of the “Kubuntu is treated like a second class citizen by Canonical” posts, but I have had enough time to let off some steam, and even joke around a bit with it. So here is my take…

Book reviews: Netocracy, by Alexander Bard and Jan Soderqvist
"Like an echo from the futuristic sci-fi film Blade Runner (1982, Ridley Scott) morphed with The Matrix (1999, Andy & Larry Wachowski), the not-too-distant hereafter promises to be a stratified cybersociety; those with the preferential attributes will gain access to the many coveted self-contained metropolises, available only to those with digital savvy and informational instinct. Long gone will be the days of slaving at the job to pay for the credit card that is paying off the Lexus and the mortgage on the 6-bedroom Tudor-style custom house in Palos Verdes. If you are not on the go, you are left behind.

Someone asked me this recently. I don't have just one answer. I compiled a list of things I thought of and emailed it to my friend...then I thought I would post it here for future reference. Feel free to add to the list! There is also a forums thread on the same topic, that I remembered as I complied my thoughts, so I stole some of the ideas posted there.

The World According to Linux
How many Linux users are there in the world? 5,000? 5,000,000? 50,000,000? No one is really sure. Linux users aren't forced to register their operating system with any corporation; Linux users are free to install and use Linux without anyone ever being the wiser. And what about all of the people who don't even realize they're using Linux? Is Linux running your PDA? Smart Phone? GPS? TiVO? Tablet? Router? Wrist watch? Car? Is Linux lurking inside all of your electronic gadgets? Probably not, but it's turning up more and more these days.

Quote of the Month from Richard Stallman
RMS: "Please do not use the term «open source» to describe what Emacs is in. Emacs is part of the GNU Project, which is part of the free software movement. To call us «open source» is like calling Kucinich a Republican.
See http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/open-source-misses-the-point.html for more explanation."

Microsoft runs Linux Smear Campaign
Late last night I was surfing the web and reading the news on CNN.com, where upon I noticed their search bar at the top of the page. I decided to place the keyword "linux" into the search box; I clicked the search button to see if there was any Linux-related news that I might have missed. What I found in the paid search really shocked me and upset me. In the number one position, it said the following: "Compare Windows to Linux
www.Microsoft.com Making a Server Platform Decision? Read About Windows Server vs. Linux". The site in question: http://www.microsoft.com/

Kubuntu - Not The Only Good KDE Distro!
Don't believe that kubuntu is the only good KDE distro out there! There are many very popular KDE distros in the world that treat KDE as a first class citizen. I will recommend, based on their support of the KDE community, a few very good alternatives for those kubuntu users that are tired of waiting for change

It's raining FOSS events! (February Edition)
Seriously, I have no clue why everyone feels like February and March are the *perfect* months for holding a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) event. Not only does it make it extremely difficult to choose which ones to attend, it leaves the rest of the year (all the way to the end, when FOSS.IN happens) uncovered, and perfect hunting grounds for companies who are not exactly known to be sending the FOSS world greeting cards at Christmas...
