gOS for the Cloudbook to use GNOME
If you have not already heard, SCALE, or the Southern California Linux Expo, is now underway. So far, the most interesting news comes from ZaReason, a manufacturer of many Linux-based computers and a reseller of Everex’s gPC and CloudBook, regarding gOS on the CloudBook. According to Click, the CloudBook will now run a version of gOS with GNOME, instead of Enlghtenment, showing that Everex is continuing to improve their software.

IP Issues with OOXML (DIS 29500)
Out of all the free and open source licences which are available, there are two which are disproportionately chosen by FOSS developers when licensing their software. Those two are the GPL and the LGPL. Of these, the GPL is disproportionately favoured over the LGPL.* If there are issues with GPL implementations then there are IP issues with OOXML. Any assurance that excludes implementation under these licences is just cause for the FOSS community to voice concern.

They say Linux "Just Works". Yet for some it.....
I have said it myself and for me in my particular cases it is true. Linux "Just Works"... Yet for many out there it doesn't "Just Work". They install Linux, they want to do the same things that I do and they come up against a brick wall. Linux just doesn't work for them and they are not too shy about telling the world about it.

What linux needs
I love linux. The concept, the implementation, the whole ‘geek in a candy store’ feeling you get when choosing which distribution to install next, it’s great. Linux has matured enough that some distros (mainly Ubuntu) are becoming very easy to use and elegant.
