economy computing ...

http://knowledgegeek.blogspot.com

I've always wanted a linux machine at home to play with, but the realities of life have meant up to now that we've had to have a more mainstream machine, as we need to share it. And so we've soldiered on with a win2k laptop, which is now close to 7 years old.

IP Issues with OOXML (DIS 29500)

http://brendanscott.wordpress.com

Out of all the free and open source licences which are available, there are two which are disproportionately chosen by FOSS developers when licensing their software. Those two are the GPL and the LGPL. Of these, the GPL is disproportionately favoured over the LGPL.* If there are issues with GPL implementations then there are IP issues with OOXML. Any assurance that excludes implementation under these licences is just cause for the FOSS community to voice concern.

They say Linux "Just Works". Yet for some it.....

http://blogs.ittoolbox.com

I have said it myself and for me in my particular cases it is true. Linux "Just Works"... Yet for many out there it doesn't "Just Work". They install Linux, they want to do the same things that I do and they come up against a brick wall. Linux just doesn't work for them and they are not too shy about telling the world about it.
