Not so long ago I was telling you about the new version 2 of Cairo Dock which was at the time still in beta/rc and that it doesn't look at all like the old 1 branch - this new version is by far the best dock menu application I've seen for any operating system.

A few days ago, version 2.0.0 full was released.

The installation of Ubuntu always takes me by surprise. Each time I upgrade or install Ubuntu on a new machine I see improvements in user interface, hardware detection, and speed. This release was even more impressive.

I've always avoided Wine, a Windows-compatibility layer for Linux, based upon the reported unreliability of applications run using it. By this I mean that if you read through the AppDB, which lists applications that work/don't work with Wine, almost every application sort of partially works with some hacks.

What's in a look? Before Apple started making immensely slick, sexy hardware, the main issues were always "specs", "graphic cards", "memory". Then, the game changed. People started buying Apple computers because they looked good - inside and out. Their computers (and gadgets) are immensely appealing. Their operating system, OS X, is a pleasure to look at.
