This is a guide on installing Apache and ColdFusion 9 on a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04. This starts with a clean install on Ubuntu 9.04 with no additional options selected during the install. If you are planning on running PHP side by side with ColdFusion my recommendation is to set up PHP first then ColdFusion.

CF is not FS
As stated in wikipedia, CF is not Free Software.

Moving a ColdFusion App to free software
Using CF for new application deployments might not be rational for someone moving to freedom, but it is essential for users of existing CF applications deployed on non-free software. The other alternative would be to run their proprietary application in a proprietary OS which would be worse than this.
