tmpfs is a virtual, RAM-backed filesystem. It’s lightning-fast, but since it’s RAM-backed, any file written to tmpfs uses precious memory while it’s there, and the entire contents of the virtual partition are lost on shutdown or crash. The good news is that these detriments can be minimized, making tmpfs a viable choice for your profile directory.

More On The New Download Manager
"As I mentioned before, I started working on the SeaMonkey UI for the toolkit download manager backend. In the last few days, I have progressed a lot on that, as one can easily see from the pushlog on the hg repository I created for backing up that work (and having the code out there if someone wants to test). Here's a current screenshot of my work: ..."

2009: Netbook or notebook?
2009 may be the year of the Netbook. But there's a big if. "Emacs comes with a nice terminal emulator called ansi-term. Using M-x ansi-term, you can run shells and other terminal programs from within emacs, and the emulation is good enough even for 'graphical' console programs. For example, I am using the mutt mailer and slrn news reader with ansi-term.

OpenSUSE 11.1: Evolution dependent on Mono
Any .1 release of a Linux distribution is generally meant to fix bugs which were present in the .0 release, not to introduce new features.
