That may be so but this site isn't
That may be so but this site isn't about gratis (no cost) software. This site is about free software http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/free-sw.html . "Free software is a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of free as in free speech, not as in free beer." According to the definition of free software, skype is non-free software and so, it should be discouraged.

Agreed but OpenSUSE is...
It can therefore be argued that a) this article IS free software related and b) it might be of interest to the foss community.
However I think the community has spoken by giving it so few positive votes.
