His work is helping Microsoft and their software patent strategy. He's being well-paid to damage the cause of software freedom. We should all Boycott Novell. It's not a joke.
I didn't lose GIMP or Gnome. There are variants of packages with similar names which have subtle differences. I got rid of junk with no loss of utility to my system. I agree with the guys at BoycottNovell.com. Miguel is making bad choices. I don't want to have any of Microsoft/Novell's patent-trolling, lawsuit-bait code on my machine.
Still, it is an indecent way to address the man.
Is the code bad code? You may have reservations about Miguel's motives or general approach, but he hardly seems technically inept. So I would accept a headline saying "Make your distro free of ethically unacceptable code", but this one is hard to swallow.
Its obvious that interpreted or very high level languages are more productive. Even though I personally don't like them (consume more memory etc), I will use whatever program I find useful, regardless of what language it was written in, as long as my computer can run it. Hurray Tomboy!

No, it's just a snarky
No, it's just a snarky posting on how to block Miguel's injection of Microsoft's b.s. in linux. It's just to be a tongue in cheek humorous how-to.

Miguel should quit Novell and stop damaging his credibility.

I ripped the Mono junk code. Gnome remains.

You lose one or two apps in the process, but nothing major. On Hardy I think it was f-spot and tomboy that were removed.

I think the title is too rough considering the amount of work Miguel and others have done to Linux and to free and open source software in general.
At the end of the day if you don't like it don't use it but please do not criticize people like that.

PS I don't currently develop apps using the Mono stack, I use other technologies but its good to have options.
