Being an avid gamer who loves Linux, I felt that it would be a good idea to go try out the new Linux-Gamers.net live dvd. This is a live dvd built on Arch Linux and designed with one purpose in mind. Gaming. No desktop apps, no office suites, no web browsers. Nope, nothing but gaming.
Lately I’ve been looking at different distributions but there’s another angle of desktop Linux that bears looking at from time to time too: gaming. Yes, there actually are Linux gamers out there and, despite some shortcomings, it is quite possible to play some games on your Linux system.
It’s not that Linux as an OS isn’t capable of running quality games, it’s just that game manufacterers don’t think the Linux gamers can make them any money. For that reason, it’s always nice when a game is released with a native Linux version.

Linux users deserve gaming love too. Linux users are often given the cold shoulder by gaming companies, and have to resort to running emulators to play most titles. There are however numerous examples of successful mainstream titles that have found a happy home with Linux gamers.
