Binary Freedom started not long ago a campaign to promote free software and open standards on the state of Massachusetts. Government choice of software dictates the software citizens are able to use to access information and services. Please consider voting if you live in MA.

Wow 3 in a row on the home page.
Wow 3 in a row on the home page. You must be proud.
@Fsdaily staff: please consider renaming the site BFdaily.com
@BF guys: ever considered submitting news from elsewhere on the net? Or are you just gonna keep gaming the site so your stuff gets put up.

well I think is just coincidence
well I think is just coincidence and because there is not many people who post here yet, also in a regular basis this will be limit to once a week, or two weeks, but since this site is new I had a few post to put here.. I think we run out of campaigns at the moment so don't worry ;-)
this is not BFdaily for that we have our own website, we are just trying to spread the word about our campaigns... like Free the BBC or the NPR ones..
when I announced in our mailing list after getting the email invitation some of our members joined at least 12-14 of them... because it looks promising and the invitation stated
"We couldn't help but notice the lack of news hub entirely dedicated to free
software. Sure, there are other news hubs, but why shouldn't we have one where
like-minded free software supporters can get together and share news and info
without being bothered by those pesky Microsoft ads and yes-men?"
obviosly everyone in a free software list like the one we run is going to like this.. so is just coincidence we had some post to add.. nothing done on a bad intention..

Actually, the formulas are very
Actually, the formulas are very simple at the moment. In fact, almost non existent. That's how they are by default with pligg.
At the moment it is very easy for one group to dominate as we don't have many users. This will change when we gain more users. However, we will still be doing a few things to the formulas to prevent "gaming" and so that promotion and burying works a little bit better.

Perhaps if you and your buddies
Perhaps if you and your buddies were contributing some stories from sources other than BF then it wouldn't look like you are just using fsdaily to promote your own project.

Jimbob, we don't want to use this
Jimbob, we don't want to use this site as propaganda or anything of that kind. As Rek2 said we didn't post our news so all of them end up on the front page to keep away other news and articles to be posted, it was just all a big coincidence. We like this site and we respect its purpose. Hopefully in the future you wont see just our news and campaigns on the front page but more of a variety of news and articles from all around the world. sorry if we gave a wrong impression.
thank you.

Actions speak louder than words.
Actions speak louder than words. Submit some news stories from elsewhere on the net and I'll see that your intentions are good. Keep posting them from your own site and it doesn't look that good.

@Jimbob: give us time, 12 persons just came here 2 days a go and the first thing they posted about is their own things..
if it was just one person it will not seen that bad.. like I say above is a coincidence, that is going to change.
sorry if we have bother you with the amount of post.

It's possible that there have been
It's possible that there have been too many BF stories lately (Disclosure: I'm a member). Since this is a user-driven site, there's an easy solution for that. Vote against the stories that don't interest you, and for those that do. And submit the stories that matter to you!

personally I also think we should
personally I also think we should not be copying news from other sites but making our own news and be truly independent.. but that is just me.

This is a news hub. That's what
This is a news hub. That's what news hubs do.
Creating an online free software newspaper might be a good idea but that's gonna be a lot more work than just setting up a pligg site and attracting users.

No. It's because there are 12-14
No. It's because there are 12-14 of you, apparently, and it only takes 10 votes to get a story to the front page. Plus, I had a look on the pligg forums and the default formula for burying a story is you need 3 buries for every vote. So that's gonna take 36+ buries to get rid of one of your stories. Plus buries don't seem to stop stories getting to the front page with 10 votes. I hope the fsdaily staff change the formula soon.

I'm coming a little late to this
I'm coming a little late to this conversation but here's my take. The reason so many Binary Freedom Boston things are up there, is because the community voted to have them up there. If you don't like them, vote them down.

Here's the basics: If the community
Here's the basics: If the community thinks the story is good, it will end up on the front page. The community has, so far, thought our campaigns were good and put them on the top page. If you don't like them you could vote them down. If you don't like the content on the site in general, you could leave or you could get other people to help you change it but don't around crying "admin! admin! Change the formula! Their stories are winning!".
