Open source software might make it simpler for employees to download and install an application without first having to check that it meets with the company's approval and governance policy. Apart from what I use on my PC of DOOM, I carry two 2GB memory sticks in my wallet, loaded with every useful open source app known to man. I also carry 10 live cd's for everything from rescuing people from Windows to discovering what their darling children set the administrator password to.
