1) Install desktop Environment
2) Install Webmin

The BBC have recently released a plugin for totem which allows users to view some of the BBCs content though a pretty interface in totem.
This allows users to access the beebs content though a nice interface.

Install the dependencies of an application
Sometimes you need to compile from source a newer version of an application which is already included in the repositories. For example, to install the development libraries for BasKet, you would run as root:

apt-get build-dep basket

Appnr is a web-based tool and a service that install applications on Ubuntu. This is a web interface for APT, and the package is downloaded and installed from Ubuntu/Third-party repositories.

The AptURL Protocol Handler and a Web browser support are required to install applications.

We have been using kUbuntu for about 3 years now and have always been slow to upgrade to newer versions, fearing the impending bug, broken configuration with hardware, or grub issues. So when 8.04 rolled out, having been using a 'fairly' stable 7.10, we were quite hesitant to change.
