The Current State of the Economy and Linux
Recently, the Linux Foundation has apparently been pointing out that the struggling US economy may cause businesses that are looking to cut cost to switch to Linux. I completely agree, but there is potentially even more to it than just the struggling economy.

Adding a new hard disk to Linux, and why the Linux filesystem trounces Windows' butt
Adding a second (or third or more!) hard drive to your computer is a great way to, well, give your computer more disk space. Ok, the concept is pretty logical but the process to make it work needs some explanation. Here’s what to do, plus one thing the Linux filesystem does brilliantly which Windows can’t do at all.

Linux is Making Me Fat and Lazy
Because of Linux I hardly have to lift a finger anymore, and because of it my health is suffering. Who writes Linux: Corporate America
I'm not sure why the silly notion that "Only .10068% of Linux kernel developers are paid" keeps circulating, but it does. So, let me just say, once and for all, Linux is written, for the most part, by paid software engineers and programmers from major American corporations.

Recently, the executive director of the Linux Foundation, came out basically saying that Solaris, Sun's recently open-sourced operating system, will never go anywhere. He even took a shot at it being open-source, saying that open-sourcing it was 'too little and too late'

Improving boot time on a general Linux distribution
Mandriva has done quite a lot of work on optimizing boot speed for its latest release, Mandriva Linux 2009. Frederic Crozat (head of the French engineering team) has written a blog post summarizing Mandriva's past work on this front, and the tweaks and improvements made for 2009.

I was user of nvidia video card and I was happy to use it in F7 and F8 but unfortunately I replaced that card with a newer one. That time the card was ATI. Of course I did not check if that card is supported in Fedora 9 (I have to blame myself) and just took it. Recently I noticed the news about that how "open" ATI would be in the future. And now I experience their "openness" with my computer.
