A situation has developed with some applications, over the last 3 or 4 releases of Ubuntu, that affect me (one of them severely). Despite numerous attempts to find a resolution to this I find that it continues to be a problem.

OpenSolaris back on track.
It would appear that the OpenSolaris project is back on track. This is a bit long overdue. The acquisition of Sun by Oracle left a few projects in questionable states. It was unknown as to whether Oracle would continue supporting these open source projects. OpenSolaris was included in that list.

FSFE founder Georg Greve awarded German Cross of Merit
Berlin 28. April 2010. Georg Greve, founding president of the Free Software Foundation Europe, has received the Cross of Merit on ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany (Verdienstkreuz am Bande).
