Red Hat Needs to Get Red Hot to Achieve Goals

In the past, this has largely been relegated to the more advanced crowd, since it often required editing text-based configuration files; but as Linux becomes more mature, many GUI programs are being written to allow easy customization of the user interface. The Nautilus Actions Configuration utility is one such program that lets you add custom commands to the right-click menu in Nautilus, the default file manager in Gnome.

Dutch "government ISV" adds ODF support

If I understood this Dutch article correctly, the Dutch ISV Centric, which seems to very active in the public sector, is adding ODF support to their applications. Apparently the adoption of ODF by the City of Heerenveen and the City of Groningen had some impact on the decision.

New Default Ubuntu Wallpaper

After installing all of the latest updates to Ubuntu Hardy Heron, I noticed they made a major change to the theme: there is a new default wallpaper on the GNOME desktop. It is still based on the brown Ubuntu color scheme, but at least it is more cheery. I wonder if this thread had anything to do with the sudden change…
