I switched to Mandriva Linux this past week. Having tried and tested the Live CD, and verifying that everything was fine, I decided to install it on the HD.The boot was quiet, and the installation took around 15 minutes. Haunted by the choice of environments, I chose KDE over GNOME, simply because it was listed first.

Find and fix weak OpenSSL/OpenSSH keys: Debian-based Linux vulnerability
A recent vulnerability was found in the OpenSSL package as provided by Debian and Debian-based Linux distributions, such as Ubuntu, that broke the effectiveness of the OpenSSL PRNG (Predictable Random Number Generator). This vulnerability caused OpenSSL to generate weak keys for anything relying on OpenSSL, including SSL certificates, OpenSSH keys, and OpenVPN keys.

Linux Format Mega-Distro DVD
Back in the Dark Ages of my home computer, when I was running Windows full time, I was quite the “Distro Dabbler”. I was forever downloading ISOs of various Linux distributions, burning them on a CD and trying them out by installing it on an unused partitions.
