I found a really quick fix today for disabling ipv6 completely on Ubuntu 7.10 (not yet tested on previous versions). This might be of interest to some of you that have had networking problems, as I’ve heard disabling ipv6 at least within the browser has been a help here. This tutorial will disable ipv6 completely on the machine.

AMOR: a desktop companion

AMOR is a nice toy which is absolutely senseless. It displays a tiny figure on your desktop, running on top of your windows or falling down to the bottom. It is a KDE application, but it should be no problem to use it in Gnome (as I do).

Linux Mint is.....Mint!

Last weekend I posted an article called Comparing Linux Distributions where I reviewed eight different Linux distributions on five different machines. I had used the freshly released Beta version of Linux Mint and kept getting read errors on the disk. This weekend I downloaded the real version of Mint 4.0 and was able to install it on my Dell Dimension 4300S. The install was a piece of cake.
