The command line in a Linux system is one area that a new user despises and a long time pro seeks to master. While the shell is powerfull in itself, there are still some tasks that requires a separate program, for instance playing music, IMs, browsing the web, etc.

Mozilla Corp. today announced the winners of its third “Extend Firefox” contest, an annual competition that recognizes the year’s best Firefox add-ons.

This year’s contest, which launched in March and brought in more than 100 entries, focused on add-ons that took advantage of Mozilla’s newest open-source browser, Firefox 3.0.

As the Debian GNU/Linux project marks 15 years of existence, how much has it diverged from the intentions with which it set sail? As times change and people correspondingly change, motivating factors often tend to change and this is reflected in changes in most software projects. Is this true for Debian?

The Mozilla Foundation has named Mark Surman as its new Executive Director effective September 22. Surman is currently serving as an Open Philanthropy Fellow at the Shuttleworth Foundation.
