One of the nice, but somewhat hidden, features of the upcoming Ubuntu 10.4 release is that you can access chatting, tweeting, and social network all from a simple panel applet. Now I will warn you, this feature is not production-worthy. In other words, it will crash on you. But to see what is in store is certainly worth the effort of working with the tools.

Debian live CD distro rev'd
The Elive team has released a long-awaited upgrade to its Debian-based, live CD-ready distro. The New Stable version of Elive 2.0, code-named Topaz, is equipped with the Enlightenment E17 desktop environment, but now offers an alternative Compaz desktop, plus new autolaunchers, system-recovery tools, and "configurators."

Converting a PDF to a Word Doc with KWord
I was posed with a challenge yesterday and fortunately, the challenge was cancelled. At my day job, my boss wanted me to convert a document produced in LaTeX to a Word document. I work with LaTeX in Kile and this isn't an option that seems available. The native output of my little set up is PDF but the PDF to Word doc options didn't look promising either.

Ubuntu 10.10 To Be Released on 28th of October
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will not even be released until next month towards the end of April, but Ubuntu 10.10 (with a codename yet to be announced) already has its release schedule available. Ubuntu 10.10 is scheduled to be released to the world officially on the 28th of October.

Yin and Yang - Dark and Bright … My idea is that many peoples loves dark- or bright-themes … or they like to switch sometimes, depending the wallpaper they use. The Theme is adjusted to the Humanity-Icons and pointed to be a simple EyeCandy-theme. The used engine is murrine.
