KDE Look Part 5: KOffice 2

http://www.tuxmachines.org

ericsbinaryworld.com: Back when I first started using Linux I was using a very underpowered computer that I got donated as part of my research at school. So OpenOffice.org was a real pain in the butt to use. It took forever to load! KOffice, on the other hand, loaded up quickly.

openSUSE Needs to Rebel

http://anditosan.blogspot.com

Over the course of a few years, and after openSUSE was launched, the relationship of openSUSE internally has been one of constant rediscovery and also lethargy. openSUSE heaveily relies on the power of the community and their votes on certain issues, features, etc. Simply put, openSUSE is democratic.

Minecraft Inspired By Cube 2: Sauerbraten?

http://www.tildehash.com

"The proprietary game "Minecraft", which is written in Java, may have been inspired by Sauerbraten (also known as "Cube 2")."..."Minecraft and Cube 2: Sauerbraten have a lot in common, if you put gameplay footage of both in front of someone who has never played either, I think that person would think they are the same game, well, maybe without Minecraft's pixelated textures."

Unity on Wayland

http://ur1.ca

The next major transition for Unity will be to deliver it on Wayland, the OpenGL-based display management system. Ubuntu embraces Unity and Wayland. Or, GNU/Linux is exciting again

http://ur1.ca

After installing Ubuntu 10.10, I had a strange feeling I was seeing something that was already old. Yes, Ubuntu is a fantastic desktop system, and yes it’s better than Windows. But today, in 2010, that’s almost a given. And that’s not enough. The IT world is changing, and PCs themselves as a whole are getting old. The mass is moving towards tablets, mobiles machines, and netbooks.

GNOME Foundation leader moves to Mozilla

http://stormyscorner.com

I have really enjoyed working with GNOME over the past 2+ years. Working with the GNOME community on creating a free desktop accessible to everyone has been fun and exciting -- as well as challenging -- which is part of the fun. It is the community that makes GNOME, and it's working with that community, in particular the board, that has made my job so much fun.

When did you last use Windows?

http://geekybodhi.net

I have a tough time explaining the merits of Free and Open Source software to desktop minions. They assume I am biased (which I am!). But my bias has a basis in truth. It's lost on them because despite spending hours in front of their Windows box, they've never actually used the operating system. Ever.
