Evidence of Novell/Microsoft intersection from this week's news. LAST night's joke about Novell and IBM did not amuse those who hate this Web site, but it was a statement with a purpose. As oiaohm explains, today (April 1st) is a good opportunity to publish things which contain an element of truth and then discuss the impact as though it was all true.
If you recall, Novell's former best friend for SUSE Linux was Microsoft. Microsoft and Novell have a partnership where the two parties had certificates that indemnified SUSE users from any intellectual property liability. In addition, Microsoft officially recommended SUSE Linux Enterprise for hybrid Windows/Linux shops.
We recently showed how Microsoft is ’stealing’ from Novell’s GroupWise. Is this the company that Novell is serving in so many ways? Why? Has Novell forgotten the past so quickly? Examples from the news of Novell problems and loss of business to Microsoft.
Novell's dependence on Microsoft increases. Novell is not only giving up on tools which compete against Microsoft’s [1, 2, 3, 4]. It actively embraces Microsoft’s vision of technology and helps Microsoft in a variety of different ways.
Hungary starts embracing more Free software, but Novell is a mismatch. THIS is not yet another report about Microsoft's corruption in Hungary [1, 2, 3]. Hungary is actually beginning to soften (not Soften) and consider Free software. Mistakenly however, an official in Hungary lists Novell as a prime candidate, despite the fact that Novell - by its own admission - is merely a mixed source company.
