I'm sure this was expected. Novell opposes SCO's Trustee's Motion for PostPetition Financing to essentially have Ralph Yarro and unnamed others provide SCO a loan to keep the corpse breathing long enough to make it through trial, I suppose, and I expect we may see more oppositions filed...

In the dispute between the SCO Group and Novell about the copyright for Unix, the new jury trial scheduled to begin on the 8th of March is apparently set to go ahead: according to a statement by Chapter 11 trustee Edward Cahn, SCO's majority owner Ralph Yarro wants to inject a loan of $2 million dollars into the financially stricken company.

SCO Chapter 11 Trustee Edward Cahn has now reported to the bankruptcy court that he's closed on the loan from Ralph Yarro and his friends, and now Cahn wants to pay most of the bills in the bankruptcy from SCO's numerous professionals. And he wants to sell the Java patent, since SCO's never used it and has no use for it going forward.

Novell objected vigorously to SCO's Motion for PostPetition Financing, the proposed Ralph Yarro "loan" to SCO which also involves granting "security interests and superpriority administrative expense status", and now there's a second objection, from Al Petrofsky.

SCO has filed its monthly operating reports for March. This the month they did the deal with Ralph Yarro, so we find out what they did first with that loan money. Pay themselves, of course, and their lawyers. And one of their experts.

I've been going through the testimony at the July 27th hearing in SCO's bankruptcy, the one that resulted in the court ordering the management out of control and a Chapter 11 trustee appointed. It's fascinating to compare what was testified to under oath at that hearing with what was testified to under oath at the SCO v. Novell trial last May.

A Chapter 11 trustee has been commissioned to take over the business affairs of the SCO Group, which is threatened by bankruptcy. The trustee will work to guide the company out of the impending bankruptcy according to Chapter 11 of US bankruptcy code, but can also send the company into liquidation according to Chapter 7 and auction individual company assets to the highest bidder.
