I don't know which of us will be happier when the SCO bankruptcy finally winds down, SCO or me. But faithful to the end, I have the latest bankruptcy documents for you.

I thought it would be fun to include some of the media reaction to the news of the SCO bankruptcy filing. Some of the headlines are inspired. The winner has to be "SCO files Chapter 11 bankruptcy - Seeks court protection from its own lawsuits". My personal favorite is, "SCO files for Chapter 11, threatens business as usual." Now it's Hewlett-Packard that has answered the call from the bankruptcy court and filed a notice of its interest in SCO's bankruptcy

Bankruptcy court gets more and more weird. Today's scheduled hearing in SCO's bankruptcy was cancelled at the last minute. No one told the U.S. Trustee's Office, I gather, since our reporter showed up and so did that office's representative. Meanwhile, the order approving the sale of the patent was approved and signed by the judge. They should just skip hearings.

We need to take a quick break from the Bilski series because there are a number of filings in the SCO bankruptcy, including a notation in one filing that seems to indicate that SCO is considering resurrecting the name Caldera International.

A Chapter 11 trustee has been commissioned to take over the business affairs of the SCO Group, which is threatened by bankruptcy. The trustee will work to guide the company out of the impending bankruptcy according to Chapter 11 of US bankruptcy code, but can also send the company into liquidation according to Chapter 7 and auction individual company assets to the highest bidder.

We have the transcript [PDF] of the September 16th hearing in the SCO bankruptcy. There are quite a few subsidiary and less interesting filings too, which we'll have for you soon. But I didn't want you to have to wait to read this. I haven't read it yet myself, so we can do that together. A quick glance shows that Darl McBride took the stand, on page 32.

I view the bankruptcy hearings at this point as comic relief, since nothing goes the way any of us here think they should. Bankruptcy court seems like cartoon court to me. So, when I heard that the December 2009 hearing transcript [PDF] was available, I said, Oh, goody! It doesn't disappoint.
