Why does open source get neglected by industry analysts? Because M$ pays them to neglect it, that's why.

I think a more likely
I think a more likely explanation is that these analysts don't care for software freedom. These analysts are probably researching the popularity of software systems. As a result of these assertions, it is easy to understand that these analysts are ignorant of our systems that are intended to promote freedom; our free systems are not intended to be popular but be a way for users to escape to freedom, something that these analysts fail to care about.
