Everybody should learn to script
GNU/Linux has second to none scripting, piping and redirection abilities providing us with incredible opportunities. Scripting is easy and fun and can be really handy at times and save us a ton of time. You don't have to know how to program traditional computer languages to learn to script.
Bash is probably the most popular shell out there and here are a few very nice resources for scripting it.
Do yourself a favor, try it.
