The PySide team is pleased to announce the first public release of PySide: Python for Qt. PySide is a project providing an LGPL'd set of Python bindings for the Qt framework.

So what is the state of the Hurd? Is it vaporware, like Duke Nukem Forever? Fortunately not: the code exists, there is still work going on (for instance as part of Google Summer of Code), and there are even some relatively functional Hurd distributions. Let's look first at the code and the current architecture, and then at the Hurd distributions.

Python programming is all the rage, because the language has such simple, clean syntax, is easy to learn and has lots of libraries available. But best of all, you're not limited to writing command-line applications. Python has at least four ways to make graphical apps, but today I'll concentrate on one: TkInter.

We are happy to announce that DDE has been successfully packaged for Arch Hurd! This means that we now have the ability to compile drivers from Linux 2.6 for the Hurd.

Hurd Philip Charles has released the K16 snapshot of the Debian GNU/Hurd system. The K16 CD series includes a mini-ISO, 4 full CD images, and 2 DVD images. For the first time, a QEMU image based on the mini-ISO is provided as well.
