Broadcom has released Linux drivers for the Crystal HD video decoder accelerator card. This card can be put into a netbook to enable HD video playback.

Good news

This Linux driver release from Broadcom is free software licensed under GPLv2. A cursory check of the source download appears to check out.

As a result of Broadcom's respect toward the users' freedom, this Crystal HD card is going to appear on my shopping list within the near future.
