We previously installed phpGroupware, and now we need to configure it so our users can do their work. This will be more of an overview to help you get up and running, than an in-depth tutorial.
Recently I've been frustrated by the fact that we have a number of tickets open on Pidgin's Trac that deal with inadequacies in the preferences window. The biggest complaint is that in a number of configurations, the preferences window is too tall to fit on a screen. This has only recently become a problem with the advent of the so-called "netbook" with their nearly microscopic screens .
So maybe a week or so ago I posted about the Awn theme manager, which was still in early stages but was nice. Well it has made considerable progress, and is now not only a theme manager but pretty much all the preferences, in Awn.
I have been playing around with phphGroupware (version 0.9.16.011) for a little while, trying to get a feel for it. On the surface, it is fairly simple to use. And yet, it is also a fairly complex and flexible system. The question is, just how useful is it?
Kubuntu (and some other KDE-based distributions) features a special System Settings application which takes the place of the full KDE Control Centre application, which is used for setting all sorts of KDE preferences and changing different settings on the system.
Webmail for Linux Desktops provides a generic mailto: handler and webmail config dialog that lets the user choose his preferred webmail provider on first run and through the desktops Preferences->Webmail facility.
