The good news is that wireless worked way….better for me in Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex than it did ever before with any Linux system. Although I'm a KDE fan, after the last Kubuntu release (8.04 - LTS) I was a little disappointed, so I decided to try Ubuntu 8.10, which is going to be the next release of this wonderful distribution, codenamed 'Intrepid Ibex'. Ubuntu is definitely the most popular Linux distribution, also occupying the top position at page hits on Distrowatch.com for almost 4 years now.

I have been running Linux exclusively on my computers since Ubuntu 6.04 was released. For nearly as long I’ve been helping non-geek friends install it on their systems as well. Once you've completed this guide you'll be able to install Ubuntu and have a good understanding of the options on each step of the install. Users should also be able to perform a manual installation of Ubuntu after using this Ubuntu installation guide. A step by step video tutorial is included with this guide.

One of those new features is a new interface for understanding how to do a "Manual " installation. Most of the time the option "Guided" install is done because users are frustrated with how to create partitions correctly.
