Even the seemingly simple right click menu in Ubuntu Gnome is getting designer's attention. Has anybody noticed that, there are already about 20 or so entries in the right click menu of a folder in Nautilus? Somebody has. Take a look at this 'right click menu alternative' mockup.
Here are 2 screenshots of a mockup of Gnome 3.0 The author shapes a new organization of Gnome's main menu. Please notice also the use of transparency everywhere : the windows, the taskbar, the bubble notifications...
In this tutorial I will show you which tools to use to help troubleshoot sound on your Ubuntu-based machine as well as make that sound sound as good as possible. This article will focus not only on Ubuntu but GNOME as well.
In Maverick we're adding the new Ayatana indicator for sound, Conor Curran's very classy implementation of MPT's very classy spec. It's a Category Indicator, like the messaging menu, so it allows apps to embed themselves into it in a standard and appropriate way.
The Ubuntu menu can be customized so that it fits your needs and gives you access to what's important while not displaying menu items you'll never need. I've created a 'Customize The Ubuntu Menu' video and placed it on Youtube and at the end of this Ubuntu tutorial.
This is a mockup for the new Ubuntu release Intrepid Ibex. If you like the designs please please email the Ubuntu design team to try to get a move on with moving Ubuntu into the 21st century. If you don't like some of the things on the design, please comment, i feel moving these kind of designs needs be a real community effort.
Here's the bug I filed in Launchpad for the misbehaving Me Menu in Ubuntu Lucid: Social bar in Me Menu only shows up when I add an account to Gwibber, the next day it doesn't appear (The Me Menu Bugs - Bug #576688)
I had an idea for notifications which require interaction. I’ve read about morphing windows on the Wiki but I think that they would undermine consistency a bit. I’m attaching a mockup to this mail, but I’m so bad at using Gimp that much of what I’m proposing will be left to your ability of understanding me. :-)
