PCLinuxOS 2009.1 was running beautifully. The installation from the live CD had retained the settings and I had completed all my usual post-install multimedia checks... So why, by all that's holy, did I think that switching on Compiz's 3D effects might be A Good Thing To Try?

Finally, after almost two years in the making, the latest version of PCLinuxOS has been unleashed. Although released without much fanfare, I was excited enough to download PCLinuxOS 2009 immediately after it is available.

After running into Problems with Mandriva 2009.1 with my sound cutting out and making static sounds and sometimes not working at all I decided to give PCLinuxOS a try.

PCLinuxOS is dubbed the "distro hopper-stopper" by its fans. Not without a good reason, I must say, because PCLinuxOS aims and succeeds at being radically simple [sic], friendly to new users as well as Linux geeks, easy to configure and manage, and packaging all you might need from your computer.

It's been quite a while since the last update to PCLinuxOS back in 2007. While Ubuntu and other distros come out every 6 months, PCLinuxOS is considered a "rolling release distribution" that gets updated regularly as new stuff appears in the PCLinuxOS repository. So was it worth the wait?

I get excited about Linux and, day after day, shout to the world through this blog about how terrific it is! I've also been running PCLinuxOS 2009.1!

Don't count out PCLinuxOS just yet. The Ripper Gang announced today the release of the third public beta of PCLinuxOS 2009.

It’s main purpose is to provide Chinese users of PCLinuxOS a place they can be comfortable with in posting questions and problems with PCLinuxOS, a home for PCLinuxOS Chinese experts to help out, and a launchpad to any Chinese-related PCLinuxOS projects.

The New PCLinuxOS Magazine, which comprises volunteers from the PCLinuxOS community, is proud to announce the release of it's August 2009 edition.
