Pushed into the Jaunty repository this morning for Ubuntu 9.04 was a new theme for USplash. This Canonical project for providing a splash screen at boot-up on Ubuntu is being replaced by Plymouth.
This specification details the foundation team plans for the technology for the Lucid Lynx boot experience, changing from using usplash to plymouth to provide the graphical splash screen while waiting for the boot to complete. The "look" and "theme" components are not covered here.
Recently while i was surfing the internet i came across instruction to install a theme on Ubuntu , Now after installing the theme i was mightily impressed with the theme . I decided it was good enough to be published on my blog and well here are the simplified instructions to installing the theme with loads of screen shots :) on Ubuntu 7.10 Gusty Gibbon.
Nodoka is the new Fedora default theme for Gnome. It currently contains gtk engine, gtk theme, metacity theme and gnome meta theme .If you want to install nodoka theme in Ubuntu follow this procedure.
I remember when I first booted up Ubuntu on my computer three years ago that I wasn’t very impressed with the dull black usplash screen. It gave me a feeling that I was back to the Windows 95 era.
After the new themes introduced yesterday, Canonical decided to update the boot splash screen (USplash) theme with a very nice one. As you can see in the image below, the logo is the same as it was in Ubuntu 8.10, but it's smaller and the loading bar was replaced with a thinner and nicer one (see the images below for more details).
This is a version of Ubuntu Sun that changes depending on time of day. It contains parts of Ubuntu Sun theme, Ubuntu Sun X theme and a script originally created for New Wave Chronos theme and adapted for Ubuntu Sun.
Download the tar file from here....and extract it....
You can see many image files, one c file, one Makefile and one bdf file.Now u can create your usplash by editing the images.
