Today the DOTA mod remake Heroes Of Newerth from S2games has gone retail! S2Games made GNU/Linux clients for their Savage series and HoN is no exception! It runs pretty good on GNU/Linux and offer a native 64-bit client.

Heroes of Newerth (commonly known as HoN) is a free-to-play action/real-time strategy game based on DotA. The developer S2 Games announced last Friday that HoN is now free-to-play. HoN is heavily inspired by the popular Warcraft 3 mod, Defense of the Ancients (DotA), but with vast improvements in graphics and gameplay.

Best racing game ever runs on linux!

Disclaimer: I'm not a racing game fan, in general I don't like racing games at all. So if I say something is the best racing game ever, it's not based on the usual things most racing fans would think make up the best racing game.

Last night I was looking for a linux game, to do some mindless gaming on the and of a tiring day.

Linux might not have as much games as Windows (or game consoles) but people enjoying this wonderful open source operating system can have fun with games too, as there are a lot of free games for Linux available, even some huge commercial ones. Even Linux games are a niche market, Linux gaming has got a pretty colorful history so far. So what’s the state of Linux gaming?

How’s the strategy gaming on Linux?

Usually strategy games are either real-time strategy or turn-based strategy games, but there are also real-time tactics and turn-based tactics games. So what’s the difference between these types?

It’s not that Linux as an OS isn’t capable of running quality games, it’s just that game manufacterers don’t think the Linux gamers can make them any money. For that reason, it’s always nice when a game is released with a native Linux version.
