Almost 80% of enterprises that use Linux will be increasing their use of Linux over the next five years, and 84% of them increased their Linux use in the past year, despite the economic climate. More of these companies will be reducing the number of Windows servers they use (25.9%) than increasing them (21.7%) too.

When I taught Linux system administrators, I would go through a series of rules, and rule #1 was always: Whenever you’re editing config files, and a tool exists to make the change, use the tool instead of editing the config by hand. The logic is easy to follow. We as humans are capable of error. Unfortunately, error happens all too often.

KDE 4 is out, as you probably already know, and it comes with a lot of innovations for the Linux desktop. KDE project’s goal for the 4.0 release is to put the foundations in place for future innovations on the FREE desktop.
