Linux is a red herring

Linux is a red herring; it is irrelevant to mention that this program runs upon a free software platform. This is news is about encouraging the legitimacy of proprietary software. All proprietary software is designed to take away the freedom of the user and this program is no different in that manner.

You choose to give up your freedom to the program's master whenever you accept proprietary software. The master in this case is Hothead Games and they will expect you to be helpless to help yourself; you will not be free to run and modify the program as you please. Hothead Games will also expect you to not help your community thus depriving you of the right to cooperate with your community.

If you value your freedom to help yourself and cooperate with your community, you should reject proprietary software such as this.
