Boxee is a new entrant into the increasingly crowded open source media center space. The company's eponymous application is billed as a "social media center" -- melding a smorgasbord of social networking services into an XBMC-based media center designed for the couch-centric user.

Boxee is a much hyped Media Center application, which has many social networking features as well. When i decided to give it a try, i was not expecting anything dramatic as such, being an alpha release. But i have to admit, Boxee Alpha is so damn good.

MythTV now has a new competitor and that is Boxee. Boxee is a "social media center" that is based upon the Xbox Media Center (XBMC) with versions for Linux, Windows, and MacOS X.

If you've been using the recently released Boxee Beta media center but found it to be a bit on unusable side of buggy (at least one Lifehacker writer felt that way), good news: Boxee just released an update to Boxee Beta, and while the update doesn't have any new features, it's overflowing with bug fixes (over 500 resolved issues in total).
