Agave is a color palette selection tool used to pick design layouts for desktop themes, web site designs, icon creation, and much more. It simplifies the process of choosing colors by generating a palette based on an initial color selection according to the selected rule and color set. Supported color sets include GNOME Icon, Tango Icon, Web-Safe, and Visibone.

Previously , you can create desktop icon in Ubuntu by using "Create Launcher" option which was available when we right-click on desktop . But now in current versions like Ubuntu 11.04/11/.10 you cannot create desktop icon in that same manner . In Ubuntu 11.04/ Ubuntu 11.10 , you have to install package to create desktop icon .

In ubuntu 10.10 you can quite easily set your Desktop prefrences to "show home icon, trash icon, mounted volumes and computer icon in your ubuntu 10.10 desktop".

Out of the box, both KDE3 and Gnome look like crap. There, I said it. Default KDE still uses Everaldo’s Crystal SVG icon theme, which dates from 2001. That’s about the time I started using KDE, and I loved it at the time, but these days, icon sets tend to be a little less bright.

Remember this little guy, the orangish icon that appears in your upper GNOME panel in Debian Lenny when you have software updates? Ubuntu has a similar yet different icon. Or had it, I guess.
