Mixed opinions

I have got mixed opinions and feelings about this article.

At first, I want to mention that it is not about free or open source software, their ideology and so on. It is just only about technical aspects, about programmers nature. And the sentence where the author thinks that it is much attractive and better for young developers to use iPhone is very negative and bad. Young developer should not choose their grave-way, way of struggling with people's freedom, by developing proprietary software.

But, being a developer, I agreed with the main subject of this article. That being a number several thousand something -- does not give any (or just enough) satisfaction to a programmer. Working in a quite small team is, as a rule on my practice, much more very attractive and satisfacting.

From the other point of view -- developers working in huge quantity of small teams, each of them are not strong enough for serious works (as a rule) -- won't provide strong progress to the world. Practically I think that uniting programmers forces around several single projects are much more useful. However, as we can see, most of code in Linux is written by huge companies like RedHat, IBM, Intel, and so on. And quality of this code, it's beaty wishes to be better.

But, everything of that is only applied to young developers. Those, who just only start their expirience. Mature ones can be the very different. So, there is no any problem -- it is just a describing of situation.
