Sometimes you get the flaw fixed right the first time and sometimes you don't. For Mozilla, apparently they have not properly fixed at least two types of flaws which they previously claimed to have fixed.
Many distributions have what is called a "fixed" release. While they may have several names for it, it is simply a fixed release where several things happen...
KDE SC 4.4.4 brings a number of improvements. Several bugs in filename sorting in the Dolphin file manager have been fixed. Issues with encoded filenames in ZIP archives have been fixed. A number of bugs in games, such as KMines, KNetwalk and LSkat and KSpaceDuel have been fixed.
A guy had his spyPhone, macbook and other stuff wiped because apple icloud handed over his credentials to a cracker. And the flaw isn't still fixed. This is exactly why people should think twice before handing over their control to such new wonderful cloud services.
The GIMP team is preparing for the release of GIMP 2.4.0. Today marks the release of GIMP 2.3.19, which fixes a host of issues to the point where most outstanding GIMP problems are now fixed or will be fixed in the very near future.
I'm running Kubuntu Gutsy Gibbon (7.10) on one of my main workstations. As with its sibling Ubuntu, it's an endlessly-entertaining blend of really nice stuff and really irritating stuff. The nice stuff is nearly-current releases of fast-moving applications like KDE, Digikam, Krita, KWord, and other apps that I use a lot, easy-on-the-eyes graphics, a good set of default applications, and nicely-organized menus. The irritating stuff is they still don't pay enough attention to delivering reliable basic functionality in core functions like networking and printing.
