I just saw the article of ServerWatch on server sales on Q4'2008. I had been waiting for it for a while to see how bad the quarter had been given the economy.. but mostly I wanted to see how the GNU/Linux vs Windows battle on the server space is going.

Why are we not using Linux? Considering the advantages for geeks as well as non-geeks, Linux should be at a preference over the traditionally popular propreitary operating systems.

Ubuntu for Non-Geeks: A Pain-Free, Project-Based, Get-Things-Done Guidebook, by Rickford Grant, introduces non-Linux users to the world of Linux and shows them how to be productive in a complete Linux environment.

Linux has its own radio show in Phoenix. Hosted by "the distro dorks themselves," and syndicated nationally, the "Gutsy Geeks" show aims to promote and teach Linux to newcomers while also providing tips to intermediate-level Linux users.

Linux is only for geeks. Windows is easy to use. Linux is hard. You have to use the command line under Linux. You never need to use the console under windows. Windows is all point and click. You have to be a wiz at computers to be able to use Linux. Anybody can use windows.

As part of its revamp, the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) is asking yoof and geeks to submit world-changing ideas, 60 of which will earn their entrants a trip to Geneva to pitch them to "industry leaders".
