BANGALORE: The bustling, overcrowded gullies of Sudarshan Layout’s slum settlement played host to a very high-profile visitor on Saturday afternoon. American software freedom activist, and founder of the GNU Project and Free Software Foundation Richard Matthew Stallman, fondly known as RMS, sat down to tea and interacted with children and volunteers at the Ambedkar Community Computing Centre.

Ben Cato Clough and Luke Upchurch's "When Copyright Goes Bad" (from Consumers International) is a great, 15-minute mini-documentary on what copyright can do, what it is doing, and what it needs to stop doing.

This young man never ceases to amaze me. He attended a screencast introducing free software image manipulation software 'Gimp' at the C³ - Community Computing Center in Bangalore and loved it. Now he raises money by selling the artwork produced using Gimp on gnu/Linux operating system to buy new computers for his community center. Talk about free software empowering people!
